Managing Research Projects
PUT

This short course (just 4 lectures) focuses on managing small research projects, such as academic projects leading to a PhD. The course is based on four pillars:

  • Setting research goals
  • Applying an agile approach to research projects
  • Management of literature studies
  • Management of scientific experiments

The course has been conducted for PhD students of the Poznan University of Technology since 2018. The median grade given by doctoral students last year was 5.0, i.e. A (5.0 is the highest grade at PUT).

The course is run by Prof. Jerzy Nawrocki from Institute of Computing Science, Poznan University of Technology. The number of participants for this course is limited to 30 (the rule is first-come-first-enrolled).

Voice, Vision and Visuals: improve your scientific presentations
UC

The course aims to help PhD students improve their scientific presentations by providing tips and tricks on various aspects, such as planning, structure, discourse, design, delivery, and storytelling.  Each of the 8 sections delves into a different topic and features written material, example videos, a forum, and a quiz.

Beyond merely reading the materials and taking the quizzes, we believe the true value of the course lies in the opportunity to plan and design an upcoming presentation. Each section has a forum where you're encouraged to share your ideas with fellow participants and draw inspiration from their input. There's also an optional final activity where you can upload a video recording of your presentation to receive feedback from the instructors. While the course is designed to be asynchronous and self-paced, the instructors will remain accessible via forums and email.
